Mandriva, Europe’s leading publisher of Linux solutions, announces the collaboration with the Norwegian company Open Framework Systems (OFS).

Mandriva and OFS are working together to provide a secure collaborative solution to its customers. OFS Collab Collaboration Suite is designed to be a real time secure collaboration suite that can be accessed from different types of clients and editors. With simple mouse clicks, user will be able to secure parts of a document with read and edit access rights. The Collab Collaboration Suite is client server based. The server handles the security and stores the documents in a centralized document management storage.

The OFS software, The Collab Collaboration Suite, is going to be integrated in the Mandriva Enterprise Server 5 (MES5) platform. The integration will include a specific installation and configuration wizard as well as the possibility to manage OFS Collab Collaboration Suite users in the Mandriva Directory Server (MDS) of MES5.

To access the documents the user must log in and be verified by the LDAP server. When a user accesses a document the server checks which sections the user have read and edit access to, the server then removes any edit and copy paste functionality from the read only sections. From the sections the users has no read or edit access, the server cuts the sections from the document physically. This gives maximum security. Managing the privileges of the document can also be done via HTML as well as directly in editors such as Open Office and Libre Office.

Supported editors are web editor, OpenOffice, Libre Office and Microsoft Office. Support for KOffice and IBM Lotus Symphony will also be available in future.

Mandriva’s is seeing increase in partners joining its ecosystem, an indication of Mandriva’s worldwide acceptance and growing-user base, What we have known from our experiences during the recent years is that close strategic partnerships are vital to optimize growth and long-term success.”, said Gaurav Parakh, Vice President, WW Strategic Partnership Alliance & Brazil P&L Unit, Mandriva S.A.
“OFS is proud to be part of Mandriva global eco-system, to provide secure collaborative document solution to Mandriva Enterprise customers. Working together, OFS and Mandriva will provide a high quality Collab solutions which facilitate knowledge based sharing and effective technology usage” explained by Karl Ramberg, CEO Open Framework System
