DistroWatch Weekly is packed full of LiveCD news today. First up is news of a gaming LiveDVD by Mandriva, along with a LiveCD showcasing a unique 3D desktop called Metisse. Below that is news of updates to Live versions of PCLinuxOS, gNewSense, Fedora Unity, BOSS GNU/Linux, and a new rescue LiveCD by the T2 project.

Mandriva released a 2 GB USB flash drive with Mandriva Linux preinstalled. Two of the more interesting selling points are that one gig of it is free space for files, and that it includes all the fun 3D desktop effects.

This Mandriva 2007 review at Linux Forums has a short section involving the LiveCD install of the new Mandriva release. OSDir has screenshots of Mandriva Linux One 2006 Beta 2 LiveCD, including step-by-step shots of the new installer. Viewing these shots is the next best thing to installing it yourself.

Tuxmachines.org has a review of MandrivaOne Beta 2. The harddrive installer worked wonderfully. At first use it appears simple and lacking in options. One is asked their target partition(s) and boot loader information and off it goes. It took less than 15 minutes from start to finish to install Mandriva One onto my harddrive.
